Whilst Tollers do excel in the show ring and the sporting arena, there are many other activities you can train for outside of competitions. Some of our members’ Tollers are licensed therapy dogs, training as medical alert dogs and even appearing in TV commercials.

Promoting responsible pet ownership

Leonie Keilour has been a pet educator with the the state government’s Responsible pet ownership program for over nine years, visting primary schools and kindergartens educating children on responsible pet ownership and living safely with dogs. In 2020, Leonie’s Toller, Prancer, passed her assessment to become a suitability tested dog with the program and has enjoyed her job promoting vital safety messages to children.

Founding club member, Raylene Laver, has also been involved with the program and spent many years working as a pet educator accompanied by her Tollers, Monte and Scarlet.

So too has Glenda Forster with her Glenmave Tollers, Louella, Fly, Dancer and Etta. Louella was also a Dogs Victoria therapy dog attending nursing homes where she was a very popular visitor.

In the spotlight

With their eye catching good looks, happy-go-lucky natures and boundless enthusiasm, Tollers were born to be in the spotlight. Here in Australia, they are becoming increasingly popular in advertising and the media, with many appearing in catalogues and commercials as seen below.
